»Prayer Power Class—2 Wednesdays, Jan 11th & 18th, 6:30-8:30pm Prayer is the foundation of the Unity Movement. Unity believes that prayer is the way to God realization and individual transformation. It is essential in manifesting prosperity, healing, and

»Chaplain Training—Fri. Jan 20th, 6-9pm and Sat. Jan 21st, 9:30am-4:30pm This training will prepare you to become a Unity Chaplain. The Prayer Power Class is a requirement. You will learn how to: pray with others, hold sacred space, listen and keep confidences, support others on their spiritual journey, assist with hospital visits as needed, make wellness calls, maintain a personal prayer life.
Laughter Yoga!
Laughter Yoga on Mondays, 5:30-6pm, Love Offering Laughter Yoga is a unique health trend exploding around the world. Love Offering
In Unity a Treasure Map is sometimes also called a Vision Board. It is a poster board on which you paste or collage images from various magazines. It becomes a visual prayer or affirmation. With the New Year upon us this is a great time to begin to envision our heart’s desires for the future. When we surround ourselves with images of who we want to be, as well as what we want to do and have, our lives can change to match those images and desires. Treasure maps are another form of goal planning, adding clarity to our future vision.
Supplies needed:
Poster board (The Church will supply them but if you would like to donate one or more in advance, that would be appreciated).
A small stack of magazines (these may also be shared with others). Bring different types. If you limit your options, you’ll lose interest after a while. Recommended magazines: Oprah, Real Simple, Natural Home, Yoga Journal, or other spiritual magazines, Better Homes and Gardens, Architecture Digest, The Economist, Parenting, Money, Ebony, Essence, Business Week, National Geographic, or any other favorites.
Glue or rubber cement (Church will provide).
Photographs of you or others or anything else that is meaningful and that you can glue to your poster board.

Meir Schneider was born with cataracts and other serious vision problems. After five unsuccessful surgeries on the lenses of his eyes, which left them shattered and filled with scar tissue, doctors pronounced his condition hopeless and he was certified permanently legally blind. He performed his reading and schoolwork in Braille. At age 17, Meir learned the Bates Method of eye exercises. He practiced them with a diligence that probably no one had ever applied to them before, up to 13 hours a day, undeterred by the skepticism of family and friends. To this he added his own regimen of self-massage and movement. Within six months, he could recognize visual objects for the first time; within 18 months, he could read print without glasses. His vision continued to improve, and today is 20/80. He holds a current unrestricted California driver’s license. During his recovery process, while still a teenager, Meir began to help others with a wide range of degenerative conditions, such as polio, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis. He found that the same principles which enabled him to gain functional eyesight could be applied to the entire body.
His discoveries led to the creation of the Meir Schneider Method of Self-Healing through Bodywork and Movement, helping tens of thousands of people with serious physical and visual conditions worldwide. Since the time of Abraham and Mary Lincoln, the rolling hills of Bluegrass Kentucky remain astonishingly beautiful to this day. In the early 1800’s the countryside was marked with tobacco fields interspersed with horse farms which brought the region its fame.
The miles between Hodgenville and Lexington can be measured in miles, but the distance between them—and what it represents—is more difficult to calculate as we attempt to look at the lives of Mary and Abraham Lincoln.
The son of Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks lived in a rough hewn log cabin carved out of the woods near Hodgenville. Hard work was the order of the day, however, Abraham became an ardent learner despite his lack of consistent schooling. More than a century and a half after his death, his birthplace has been turned into a shrine and his humble roots have been
legendary.
The contrast between Hodgenville and the thriving metropolis of Lexington dubbed “the Athens of the West, is striking. Mary grew up in an elegantly appointed mansion full of European imports and family mementos. She was connected by blood or intermarriage with nearly all the important political leaders of the day. Today one can see the trappings of her family’s pedigree and the sense of rank and privilege they enjoyed. Dolly Madison, the widow of James Madison had warm relations with her Todd kin. Mary was given a superior education and went to school many years more than the average male in America. An older sister married the son of the Governor of Illinois and a younger married the son of the Governor of Kentucky.
Roger and Colleen Vincent will give a review of what happened to this couple who gathered in a parlor with family and friends and were married Nov 4, 1842. It was a dreary and stormy night. What happened next is well documented in history.
Roger Vincent enjoyed teaching the 5th grade where he taught U.S. history with a flare. Encouraged by his family to share the story of Abraham Lincoln, he has been doing presentations for 25 years. He brings his portrayal of the 16th president with vibrant sincerity.
Colleen Vincent is also a teacher and shares the interest in Lincoln’s family. She brings her talents to her portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln as a very brilliant and flawed woman.

The Mystics and Physics
5-week class with Rev. Alyzsa Van Til The class will meet Wednesday evenings from March 23 through April 20, 6:30-8:00pm. This class will focus on our Oneness with all things, as a blessing to us during Lent and in preparation for our resurrection at Easter.
Mystics from every religion agree with modern physicists that the world is ONE. Everything connects to everything; therefore, as we change, the world cannot help but change with us. Using some of the principles of Quantum Physics and the writings of the ancient mystics, we will learn how to integrate within ourselves the consciousness of earth and heaven. Thus we will become “mystical activists” who through our own experience of God help everyone, everywhere to move toward universal peace and compassion. As Teilhard de Chardin said, “We must harness the energies of love.”
Rev. Alyzsa formerly taught Bible Interpretation at Unity Institute, where the Unity Movement trains ministers and licensed teachers. Since then she has served two churches in the West Central Region: Unity in Clearlake and Unity Palo Alto Community Church as Education Minister. She has recently retired as minister at Unity of Brookings, Oregon. Her focus now is mysticism and her prayer shawl ministry called “Knitting Our Prayers.”

On Sunday, January 23rd, we commence an 8 week spiritual journey in consciousness. This is a community experience of the heroic journey in mythological framework. Myths are not legends or falsehoods, but rather deep inner models by which we organize our belief systems and related actions. We are often unaware of the myths that impel us toward choice, however it is possible to begin to understand our lives as unfolding drama that is universal.
We will take a sacred journey together from Sunday, January 23rd through Wednesday, March 16th, as we begin the approach to Easter. This symbolizes our movement into the inner depths of our own psyche, and the process of enlightenment or the birth of Christ Consciousness.
In the attainment of this awakening we invoke our twelve powers of mind and spiritualize them within ourselves. Unity teaches there are twelve innate spiritual powers within us that are the “Divine Ideas” in the Mind of God. Plato called them the “forms.” Carl Jung called them the “archetypes.” In our collective journey we will be focusing on each of the powers and correlating it with one of the twelve archetypes presented in Carol Pearson’s book, Awakening the Heroes Within. We will also explore Biblical stories that exemplify the twelve archetypal powers.
We can think of archetypes as the “deep structures” of personal and collective myths. They are universal patterns or images that are reflected in art, literature, dreams, stories, and religion, to name only a few areas. We may think of archetypes as gods and goddesses, as paradigms or metaphors, as holograms or angels, as different facets of the One God, or as guides on our journeys. The archetypes we will be exploring are characterizations of the spiritual powers within us. The Warrior archetype, for example, helps us to see and understand the spiritual power of Strength.
Our journey will occur in three stages: preparation, journey, and return. In most stories a hero/ine must first go through preparation for the journey, then embark upon the quest itself to attain the treasure, and finally return to share with others. This journey is a metaphor for the individuation process in which we awaken to our true self and realize our oneness with God. In our evolution we pass through archetypal experiences that transform the ego and prepare us for our next task of maturation.

Rumi and the Sacred Wound

Andrew Harvey will begin by describing the tremendous relationship between Rumi and his great beloved Shams of Tabriz. He will pay special attention to how its heartbreak shattered Rumi open into divine consciousness. Using Rumi’s story and some of the magnificent poems that were created through it Andrew Harvey will discuss how personal heartbreak and collective heartbreak about the world situation can lead to great positive change. The session will end with a spiritual practice that is the core of Andrew Harvey’s book The Hope a Guide to Sacred Activism which will help people open to their own particular heartbreak at the world and find the mission that lies concealed in it.
Andrew’s latest book is Heart Yoga, The Sacred Marriage of Yoga and Mysticism, co-authored with Karuna Erickson, endorsed by Deepak Chopra and many others. Heart Yoga fuses at the most passionate depth the ancient traditions of yoga with the wisdom of the mystical traditions concerning the sacred heart and the divine light.

The Meir Schneider Method of Self-Healing Through Bodywork and Movement empowers you to take charge of your own health and unlock the body’s ability to heal itself. Self-Healing is body-mind work. The Self-Healing Method combines massage, movement and breathing education, visualization and, for those who need it, vision improvement training. The development of kinesthetic awareness is fundamental to Self-Healing.
Meir Schneider was born with cataracts and other serious vision problems. After five unsuccessful surgeries on the lenses of his eyes, which left them shattered and filled with scar tissue, doctors pronounced his condition hopeless and he was certified permanently legally blind. He performed his reading and schoolwork in Braille. At age 17, Meir learned the Bates Method of eye exercises. He practiced them with a diligence that probably no one had ever applied to them before, up to 13 hours a day, undeterred by the skepticism of family and friends. To this he added his own regimen of self-massage and movement. Within six months, he could recognize visual objects for the first time; within 18 months, he could read print without glasses. His vision continued to improve, and today is 20/80. He holds a current unrestricted California driver’s license. During his recovery process, while still a teenager, Meir began to help others with a wide range of degenerative conditions, such as polio, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis. He found that the same principles which enabled him to gain functional eyesight could be applied to the entire body.
His discoveries led to the creation of the Meir Schneider Method of Self-Healing through Bodywork and Movement, helping tens of thousands of people with serious physical and visual conditions worldwide. An internationally respected therapist and educator, Meir is the founder and director of the School for Self-Healing in San Francisco, the author of The Natural Vision Improvement Kit, Movement for Self-Healing, Yoga for Your Eyes, Meir Schneider’s Miracle Eyesight Method, Self-Healing: My Life and Vision and the principal author of The Handbook of Self-Healing. Love Offering
In Unity a Treasure Map is sometimes also called a Vision Board. It is a poster board on which you paste or collage images from various magazines. It becomes a visual prayer or affirmation. With the New Year upon us this is a great time to begin to envision our heart’s desires for the future. When we surround ourselves with images of who we want to be, as well as what we want to do and have, our lives can change to match those images and desires. Treasure maps are another form of goal planning, adding clarity to our future vision.
Supplies needed:
Poster board (The Church will supply them but if you would like to donate one or more in advance, that would be appreciated).
A small stack of magazines (these may also be shared with others). Bring different types. If you limit your options, you’ll lose interest after a while. Recommended magazines: Oprah, Real Simple, Natural Home, Yoga Journal, or other spiritual magazines, Better Homes and Gardens, Architecture Digest, The Economist, Parenting, Money, Ebony, Essence, Business Week, National Geographic, or any other favorites.
Glue or rubber cement (Church will provide).
Photographs of you or others or anything else that is meaningful and that you can glue to your poster board.

Hal is presently a Chaplain for the City of Napa Police Dept, and serves Unity International on the Minister Admissions Team. His current passion is teaching how to become wise elders rather than merely growing old. Hal dedicates his ministry to evoking and celebrating the authentic expression of the divinity inherent in all people. This time of healing will be especially meaningful to those who have become mired in traumatic events in their past—events which have been difficult to forgive. Rev. Vic Jenkins received a BA degree in music from SFSU, a Masters in history from Southern Methodist University, and graduated from Unity School of Christianity in Missouri as an ordained minister, serving 20 years as a Unity minister in Vacaville. The diverse projects, classes, workshops, and presentations in which he has been involved over the years reflect his eclectic interests and training. The Goddess has been returning to Western consciousness for decades through the women’s movement, Goddess rediscoveries, and more. We will explore some of the rich and hopeful implications of that achievement with special emphasis on the return of the Black Madonna.
It is also time to resurrect the "sacred masculine" as well so that the Goddess may have a proper
consort. Much of what passes for masculinity in our culture and religion is anything but sacred. It is toxic, and this toxicity affects not only men but also women in their roles as mothers, sisters, spouses, and human beings.

7 Dynamic Laws of Healing & Prosperity

For 7 weeks we will explore powerful laws of healing and prosperity for personal and collective transformation. Rev. Kathy will call upon the works of various Unity prosperity teachers, including: Catherine Ponder, Charles Fillmore, Eric Butterworth and Edwene Gaines.
Each Sunday lesson will introduce a new spiritual law, and on Wednesday evening there will be a follow-up discussion and activities that allow deeper understanding and activation of the law.
Prosperity and healing are all about changing our consciousness. Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity said, "Divine ideas must be incorporated into our consciousness before they can mean anything to us. An intellectual concept does not suffice." Consciousness is the knowing that God will supply. It means having a relationship with the One Presence so powerful that all necessary substance flows into the situation. It is not knowledge, but a complete surrender to God emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
All are welcome to attend this class series. A sign-up sheet is available at the bookstore table each Sunday to help us prepare for the class. If you forget to sign up, come anyway! This is a love offering class.

Join Meir Schneider PhD, L.M.T as he visits the Santa Rosa area for the second time at the Unity Church of Santa Rosa where he will lead an interactive lecture and workshop. Self-Healing is the process of accessing your innate power to create better health. Through gentle movement, breath work, self-massage, visualization and vision improvement exercises you can create profound change. Unbalanced, poor visual habits and accumulated eyestrain compromise the health and function of the eyes. Relaxation of the eyes and proper use will improve vision. Relaxation of chronically overused muscles and use of muscles that you have never used before, enhance circulation and bring the body into better balance. Your body and vision are interrelated.
Meir Schneider was born with cataracts and other serious vision problems. After five unsuccessful surgeries on the lenses of his eyes, which left them shattered and filled with scar tissue, doctors pronounced his condition hopeless and he was certified permanently legally blind. He performed his reading and schoolwork in Braille. At age 17, Meir learned the Bates Method of eye exercises. He practiced them with a diligence that probably no one had ever applied to them before, up to 13 hours a day, undeterred by the skepticism of family and friends. To this he added his own regimen of self-massage and movement. Within six months, he could recognize visual objects for the first time; within 18 months, he could read print without glasses. His vision continued to improve, and today is 20/80. He holds a current unrestricted California driver’s license. During his recovery process, while still a teenager, Meir began to help others with a wide range of degenerative conditions, such as polio, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis. He found that the same principles which enabled him to gain functional eyesight could be applied to the entire body.

Vic Jenkins received a BA degree in music from SFSU, a Masters in history from Southern Methodist University, and graduated from Unity School of Christianity in Missouri as an ordained minister, serving 20 years as a Unity minister in Vacaville.
