Yes, to some extent this is true, although most of us would never knowingly do anything that would cause us/or others harm. Right? Well, there are ways that we show our dis-ease, or un-wellness which are connected to an ancient or even recent past. The cultural memories live on and we often inherit habits as well as genes. The reactions we have to the words or behaviors of others can cause us great distress and demonstrate a need for healing but we often call it something outside of ourselves.
Everyone does the best they can with what they have to work with. And sometimes, it is hard to take responsibility for the past experiences when my body is experiencing illness in the moment. And yet, it is here in the unhealed part of our Body/Mind/Spirit that we have a great resource to heal the past in the present.

Jesus enters Jerusalem to throngs of praise as the Messiah, only soon to be meeting his 12 disciples in the upper room to announce that he will be leaving them. Humility, compassion, love and betrayal follow from Holy Thursday, to the Garden as the situation evolves into his crucifixion on “Good” Friday. How do we understand these events and Jesus’s last words: “It is finished”?

The white stone is an ancient ritual. Back in the time when Jesus was teaching and someone served time in prison or in bondage of any kind, they were given a white stone when they were released. Each of us carries some form of bondage and we are being given a white stone to signify our freedom. Join us for this powerful meditative experience as we enter the New Year.
John wrote in the book of Revelations that the white stone carries a new name, the spiritual identity and a deeper awareness of what God has planned for you. No one, in the entire universe except you and God, knows what this new name is. But it will come to you to be lived out, to be expressed, to be embodied as you. It is what God is calling you to be or do. It is a whisper from your soul that you are so much more than you have ever let come into expression.
Join us this first Sunday in the New Year and allow yoru New Name to be revealed to you and write you name on your White Stone.

“Burning Bowl Ceremony”

The Burning Bowl Ceremony and ritual has been used by many traditions at year end to release and let go of past challenges both internally and externally and to imagine and call forth a powerful intention and vision for the coming year. We will gather together in person at the church and on Zoom to collectively share in a meditation and reflection.
Each of us will reflect and write down those qualities and challenges that we are ready to release. We will symbolically create a mental burning. Then later we will have the opportunity to burn or destroy our personal papers at Unity or at home as part of the ritual. After the releasing we will take the time to vison and imagine 12 months ahead, seeing ourselves in gratitude for a powerful year 2024. We will write a gratitude letter to the Divine or to our higher selves and put it in a special place to be open in the late months this new year
