People of the Jewish faith are now observing The High Holy Days, beginning with Rosh Hashanah September 11th, and concluding with the holiest day of the year, Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, which begins at sundown September 21st. These Days of Awe are Judaism’s most spiritually significant time of the year.
This Sunday we’ll take a look at the central theme of teshuvah, translated as repentance or “returning,” involving self-reflection, forgiving and making amends where possible, asking for forgiveness, and committing to improve how we relate to others, our world, our understanding of a Divine Source, and how these universal practices are applicable to all.
Rev. SonyaMilton is retired from pulpit Ministry and enjoys spending time with her family, and, especially, her husband of over 40 years, Rev. Hal Milton. Previously, she served Unity Worldwide Ministries and the West Central Region as a Certified Transition Consultant, guest speaker and workshop/retreat facilitator, and all around beneficial presence. Her passion and joy lie in assisting people in “coming to themselves” in real, authentic, and profound ways.

Early women of the church were wayshowers in many respects. Hildegarde von Bingen was the 10th child of a noble family and she was “tithed” to the church. She lived in a monastery much of her early life and went on to establish an all-female monastery across the Rhine. She was influentnial and outspoken in bot the political and ecclesiastic world of her time, and yet also gifted with visions and extraordinary creativity.
Rev. Patricia made a pilgrimage to the Eibingen Abbei of St Hildegard in Rudesheim, Germany in January, 2000 and spend much fo her doctoral study with Matthew Fox who has written extensively on Hildegarde. Join us for a reflection on this early Christain Mystic, Hildegared von Bingen (1098 -1197).

The pot isn’t the problem. In fact, it was exactly what the plant needed—until it wasn’t. The very container that once nurtured new life eventually became too small for continued growth. Jesus called it “old wineskins.” A gardener calls it being “pot-bound.” The invitation is the same: don’t mistake a once-helpful container for your permanent home.

Love is ours, not just to receive, but also to radiate to others..
Rev. Blair Tabor is an ordained Unity Minister of forty-four years, accomplished speaker, composer and musician. He has used his varied talents to inspire and delight churches, retreats, conferences and young people all over the country with his speaking and songs. He leads a variety of workshops and trainings for congregants, ministers and boards of directors for churches.
As a ministry consultant, Blair has led board orientations and trainings to build sense deeper sense of community within boards of directors. He uses several different planning models to help churches envision and actualize their future. Blair is also called upon to provide training for board officers and staff.
Seven years ago, he retired from full-time ministry from Unity San Diego after 30 years of service. Currently, he is serving as the Administrative Director of the Unity Church of Alhambra Foundation which provides scholarships for students who want to become Unity ministers and Licensed Unity Teachers, as well as provide grants for Regional youth activities and church growth projects in the Southwest Unity Region. Rev. Blair is also Advising Minister for Unity of Tustin. He and his wife, Meredith, lead Unity travel opportunities around the world. Blair is also on the Spiritual Mistry Team for Unity of Tustin.
As a songwriter, he has written over two hundred songs. He has produced a book on Spiritual (Sufi) Dancing. He and the Unity San Diego church band, The Affirmatives, recorded a CD of 13 of Blair’s songs. A songbook of these songs is available. He has also produced meditation CD’s. He plays a variety of instruments and delights in making people smile. Last year, he and his wife, Meredith, were awarded Unity Worldwide Ministries “Grace Note” award for lifetime achievement in New Thought music. He produced a new CD to celebrate the occasion.
His Mission is: Develop and deliver resources for spiritual transformation.
His goal is to remind people of their connection to God’s love and joy.

Over the course of our lives we encounter many spiritual teachers that give us new insights, deeper understanding, or simply words of wisdom that guide us on our life’s journey. Some stay with us for a while. Other teachers come briefly. They gift us with an “aha” moment that remains with us long after the brief encounter with the teacher has come and gone. I am grateful for the amazing spiritual teachers that have come into my life. Among them – and perhaps one of the greatest – is a bird named Kona. It is now 20 years since I have spent time with Kona, but the insights she gave me live deep in my heart and have colored my thoughts throughout the years. I come to you as Kona’s “devotee” – trying to share what her lessons have meant to me – and still mean to me today.
